FAKIR HASSEN's Bollywood Hotline December 2019

Movie of the Month
Pati Patni aur Woh
Rating: 8/10
This remake of the 1978 hit comedy of the same title sees director Mudassar Aziz making appropriate adaptations for the modern generation.
Abhinav Tyagi (Kartik Aaryan) is the pati (husband), married to patni Vedika Tripathi (Bhumi Pednekar) and Tapasya Singh (Ananya Panday) is the woh (other) who enters their lives.
Abhinav, bored by the humdrum childless lives he and his wife lead in a small town, is smitten when he meets city slicker Tapasya. His infatuation with her leads to him telling a whole range of lies and making excuses as he goes about touring the town with Tapasya, who believes he is on the downside because his wife is having an affair.
But the truth will out eventually, and then there is hell to pay for Abhinav. The climax is unfortunately a bit sudden and rather incredulous, but the humour throughout the film which is just the right duration of under an hour on each side of the interval is excellent.
The surprise star of the film is Aparshakti Khurana, playing Abhinav’s best friend Fahim, who gets innocently caught up in the mess. His one-liners are some of the best treats in the movie.
Contrary to expectation in a film about infidelity, there are no scenes of vulgarity and the film is suitable for families to watch.
