The Joburg Zoo Festival of Lights featuring a delightful collection of illuminated life-size animal characters as well as entertainment, food and a craft night market for visitors will continue at the Joburg Zoo until 5 January 2020.
Open from 7pm to 10pm daily in the evenings except on Mondays, patrons can enjoy a tranquil walk in the Zoo on a designated lit route away from the animals enclosures under trees decorated in captivating lights.
“After attending the Garden of Lights in Berlin a few years back, and seeing the wild life lights concept that happens annually at the Zoo, we thought we could make it a festive treat by using fascinating LED and energy efficient lights to make our very own night market experience at the Joburg Zoo, a treat for all ages”, says Xoliswa Nduneni–Ngema, Chief Executive Officer at Joburg City Theatres.
“We are working closely with the animal welfare and conservation staff to ensure that the decibels for entertainment and lights are monitored to ensure that there is no discomfort to the animals at all times”, said Nonhlanhla Sifumba, MMC of Community Development at The City of Johannesburg.
