The Nishtara Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre in Ext. 9, Lenasia hosted their 4th annual awards evening on 23rd November 2019, at the Nirvana Old Age Home Hall. The aim of the awards is to acknowledge patients for their efforts to sustain their sobriety, and a motivation to keep going. Many of the rehab members have been 'clean' for four years and longer and are an inspiration to those who are new and are remaining clean.
Something truly inspiring is to see how many of them have their family support which they struggled to have when they were on substance abuse. Families were broken into pieces with the situation but Nishtara is a home that builds relationships again, they make many friends during their rehab sessions, learn to be confident and walk into society with a smile being clean and become a role model to other young people who feel that substance abuse is the way out of problems, causing them to commit a crime.
