On 9th November 2019, Impala Primary School was packed with people who were waiting to be tasted for glucose, cholesterol, HIV and TB. The campaign was launched and hosted by the pharmaceutical company, Sanofi. Their efforts were recognized by the community who were at the school to be tested and hear about Diabetes. Dr. Poobalan Naidoo, a medical advisor at Sanofi spoke to the media about diabetes and how it affects both male and females. Dr. Naidoo explained that diabetes is the second biggest cause of death in SA females and significant problem and looking at 3.5 million people suffering from diabetes. 90% of people suffer from Type 2 and 10% suffer from Type 1 Diabetes. Sanofi’s ambassador Pitso Malamane also spoke to the media about living with diabetes for the past 34 years.
