Lenasian lad Toyhid Hasan has experienced a meteoric rise through the ranks thanks to his amazing natural cricket talent.
The son of Bangladeshi immigrants, Toyhid’s love for cricket began at a young age and when only 8, he played Mini Cricket for his school – Greyville Primary. He quickly progressed into the Under 11 side and has subsequently represented the school’s Under 12 and 13 teams.
Throughout his development Toyhid’s been coached and mentored at the Lenasia Cricket Club under the guidance of the ever-insightful Redowan Patel.
Recently, Toyhid Hasan was selected to represent the Gauteng Cricket Board at the various December Schools age group primary schools Cricket Weeks.
His proud coach Redowan Patel said: “This young talented batsman also plays in the Lenasia Cricket Club Pres. B team, scoring runs and showing he has the temperament to play at a higher level of competition in the coming years. Toyhid has been offered a sporting bursary at Waterstone High School, where Coach Das is working with him to allow him to further develop his cricketing skills.
“It is through the Cricket South Africa and the Central Gauteng Lions Pipeline identification program that the coaches noticed his cricketing talent. Wishing this young humble lad all the best in his cricketing career.”
Toyhid says his aspiration is to play for the Central Lions Provincial and South African teams in the not-so-distant future.
