An awesome and successful event hosted by the most amazing team of Project Distinction for schools in Lenasia and surrounding areas of Gauteng was held on Saturday, 22 February 2020 at the Park Primary School hall, with the amazing team consisting of Waseem Sirkhot, Mohamed Jassat, Ismail Moola, Dr. Ridwan Mia, Farzeen Gaffoor and many others who are part of it. Almost a decade since it began, Project Distinction has grown from being a relatively small event to a now large one with more and more learners being recognised for their hard work. Well done to the amazing 2019 matrics.
Sirkhot, Jassat and Moola started this initiative nine years ago first with schools in Lenasia where they met with the principals to discuss their plan of action where they all put R10 000 each and wanted to give it to the learners and ever since then the group has grown. Project Distinction now has many more sponsors on board and the team is growing bigger with more hands coming in to help grow the initiative.
16 Top learners were awarded with R5000 each and a trophy from each school and Attiyyah Naidoo of Liverpool Secondary in Benoni received an extra R1000 for the highest results in Physical Science along with Muhammad Abdullah of Azara Secondary School received R1000 for highest results in Physical Science tying with Naidoo and R1000 for Mathematics.
While winners for a laptop, printer, cellphone, tablet, and many more cash vouchers were awarded to Nishka Singh from Southview Secondary and Muhammed Seedat and Attiyyah Naidoo from Liverpool Secondary.
