On 7 March, Dance Sensation WINNERS Desi Motion took an almost fully packed Gandhi Hall audience to the streets of Bollywood with a sensation pack show called "Lights...Camera...DesiMotion".
Electric, energetic performances by Desi Motion together with acclaimed movie Actor and Comedian Jailoshini Naidoo also known as Aunty Rumba – Audiences were moving, clapping and laughing too! With a cast of just 17 dancers raging from 5 to 27 years, audiences were blown away. Reviews via social media and 92.2 raved of a very successful show with no dull moments filled with great music, stunning choreography, designer costumes, impressive energy and the perfect combination with comedy– the show was said to have exceeded expectations and was definitely no ordinary dance show case. Despite being lengthy, audiences were sitting wanting more and cannot wait to see more of what DesiMotion has to offer in the future.
DesiMotion is a proudly South African dance academy that shares a passion for Bollywood, Hip Hop, Fusion amongst many other styles and we wish to pass this energy onto our audiences. DesiMotion is owned and run by former Miss India SA, Shivani Govender, who represented South Africa in India & French Guiana. As a Bharatanatyam graduate with a flair for Bollywood, international experience and numerous interactions with the media, DesiMotion was born when she combined her passion for dance and the yearning for extending talent.
DesiMotion is no stranger to the international and local stage performing for private, corporate and public events in Mozambique and South Africa. DesiMotion has performed for dignitaries of the Indian Consulate and Gauteng Legislature, political party rallies, opened for international stars such as Sanam and performed at theatres, casinos, festivals, concerts, weddings, parties – you name it and they have done it! DesiMotion prizes itself in spreading culture and talent to the next generation as well as breaking barriers and norms within the dancing industry – it is not uncommon to see them doing Indian dancing to African music.
DesiMotion offers dance classes for all ages in the Alberton region and the performance team is available as entertainment for any event. We love fusing various styles along with quick outfit changes and interesting props to bring you a WOW performance.
