Benoni Ladies Forum at forefront of assisting indigent during Covid crisis

Unsurprisingly, Benoni Ladies Forum (BLF) have tenaciously involved themselves in assisting as many possible during our country’s ongoing Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the harsh adverse economic effects of the necessary lockdown. The group’s immensely grateful to all who assisted and helped them procure items such as: “SANMWF coordinated 500 bags of maize meal; 200 hampers; Medical masks; SANMWF Masks and Sanitizer packs; Clothing for the homeless; 150 Blankets courtesy of Al-Imdaad, handed to the homeless in Benoni town; Further 150 to be handed to the needy in Actonville courtesy of Ashraful Aid Marlboro; Toiletries to homeless; 1000 loaves of bread; 3000 fabric masks by our volunteers on the BLF sewing group.” BLF Spokesperson Amina said: “Your donations have helped so many families during this difficult time. The Benoni Ladies Forum would like to say Shukran and thank you to all you beautiful souls that responded to our call, during these hard times, in which we face many difficult and seemingly unanswerable questions, for unconditionally supporting our humble efforts, helping us serve our underprivileged communities. “We have been busy even during lockdown, inspired by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) saying, ‘Give Sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity’. We know that Sadaqah wards off evil, cools the anger of Allah along with so many other great benefits! We continue to team up with other welfare organizations to help bring ease and alleviate hunger in our local communities most burdened during this critical time in our global history. “Together with the Benoni CPF we collected clothes in a good decent condition for males and females for all the homeless housed at the Benoni Town Hall. Whilst we have a home, clothes, warm beds and food, there are many people without even these basics depending on our help for their immediate needs. The clothes and blankets for the homeless are housed at the Benoni Town Hall and we thank Actonville CPF Chair Mubeeb Ebrahim for collecting from our drop off and delivering to the hall, and we thank Al Imdaad for the blankets. “For our mask campaign we have volunteers sewing the masks in conjunction with Mycoe. We have about 20 ladies sewing. We collect and hand out to our local clinic. In the first three weeks since lockdown our volunteers stitched 3000 masks. We thank them, they are from all over Benoni and Boksburg, they are on the ball and we are so proud of them. Tasneem from Rynfield, one of the seamstresses, is coordinating the mask campaign for us together with Waseem Sirkhot from Mycoe who supplies the fabric and elastics for the masks. We also thank Boksburg Spur’s Mohamed Jassat for his relentless assistance to our efforts too.” Any person interested in donating to BLF’s altruistic efforts during the Coronavirus crisis, can do so to: Benoni Ladies Forum; Absa; Account no.: 4083402465; Branch code: 632005; Reference: Covid 19.
