BMS top independent school in the district


Educators and learners of Benoni Muslim School were honoured at the Ekurhuleni North District Academic Excellence Awards recently held at the Chief Albert Luthuli Smart School. 
Aysha Imran Mohammad, who scored 6A’s and 79% in English, received the award for top learner in Afrikaans, 92%. She was also the top learner amongst the District’s Independent Schools. 
Zaheera Bhabha also received a certificate for being the top learner in Geography from the Independent Schools. 
Two educators from BMS were also recognised for their efforts. Mr Hanief Hoosen, a senior Head of Department at BMS, who has had the honour of not being absent for a single school day for the past 16 years, received the award for the best educator in the District for Economics. 
Another educator, Mr. Albert Gumbochuma, who is also passionate about his subject and upgrading learners’ skills, was also awarded the “Best Educator in Geography” accolade. 
Mr. Mohammed Yameen Laher, Principal of BMS congratulated the educators, saying: “It is the dedication and commitment of our educators that ensures excellence from our learners. We are very proud of their achievement.” 
The district Director, Nonceba Ntuta felt blessed and excited to welcome learners and educators. She said: “Possibility thinkers don’t focus on whether it is possible or not. They focus on how they can make it possible.” 
BMS said this is the challenge we extend to the Matric class of 2020.
