According to M. L. Morewane, Chief Director of the Johannesburg Health District for Gauteng Province: “The conversion of the facility into a hospital was as a result of a request made by the Lenasia and Orange Farm communities to have a hospital in that area.”
Since Wednesday, 16th September, the facility’s been operating as a hospital with users having to pay Universal Prescribed Hospital Fees (UPHF) “in order to access hospital health services”.
Morewane added: “Users are encouraged to access free Primary Health Care services from their local clinics and visit the hospital as per referral letter from a doctor or health professional.”
