A bizarre incident happened last night, Wednesday, 14th October when a foreign national was said to be kidnapped in Lenasia but then perplexingly released minutes later.
According to Lenasia CPF PRO Khalil Mohamed: “A foreign national was kidnapped last night in the Lenasia CBD at approximately 18h40 on Gemsbok Street by occupants in a White VW Polo, registration unknown. Occupants of the VW Polo were one Charlie male and two Bravo males.
“The victim was dropped off minutes later at the K43/N12E onramp to the N12E after the kidnappers realized that they kidnapped the wrong person. The victim walked from the offramp to the Freeway Plaza complex on Nirvana Drive where he then contacted family.
“Family contacted a Lenasia CPF member to assist. The victim was transported by a member of the Lenasia CPF to Lenasia SAPS.”
Meanwhile another foreign national encountered trouble with the law earlier today.
According to Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko: “A foreign national was arrested in Lenasia for selling illicit goods. On the way to the police station for booking, he attempted to bribe the arresting officer with R17 500. A charge of attempted bribery will be added.”
